By participating in UpCycle’s creative reuse programs, students develop foundational motor and communication skills, and they learn to create art with reuse materials and how to manage waste at school and at home.

UpCycle's outreach is made possible by the generous support from the following agencies, organizations and businesses.
Funding for preschool UpCycle Center Days in 14 classrooms at Jefferson-Houston and John Adams Elementary Schools was provided by a Covanta Waste-to-Energy Community Grant and the Alexandria Rotary Club's Day Home Nursery Fund.
Funding for kindergarten UpCycled Mixed Media Portraits: Exploring and Creating with Reuse Materials in 30 classrooms at Charles Barrett, Cora Kelly, Jefferson-Houston, John Adams, Matthew Maury, Patrick Henry and William Ramsay Elementary Schools was provided by a Covanta Waste-to-Energy Community Grant and a Virginia Commission for the Arts - Artists in Education Grant.
Annual Teacher Memberships to UpCycle's Materials Resource Center were provided for 28 ACPS Preschool Teachers by ACT for Alexandria Donor Advised Fund Grantors.
