As the only creative reuse center inside the Capital Beltway, UpCycle has provided a vital service to our community's educators, families, artists, and environment for more than a decade.

The unexpected loss of our Eisenhower Ave location earlier this year was a major setback for our small nonprofit, but with persistence and a little luck, we found a new home: 2397 S Dove Street in Alexandria. 

Our extended closure has placed a significant strain on the resources UpCycle relies on to provide our services and sustain our work, which is why we need your help.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 by December 31, 2025

   Your donation will directly support:
​
  • Covering essential costs while our doors are closed—keeping our dedicated team employed, preparing our new space, and bringing free creative reuse activities to the community

  • Designing and delivering an accessible materials center to optimize your shopping, donating, and on-site learning experiences

  • Receiving, processing, and storing donated materials during our closure

  • Enhancing programming opportunities, such as extended hours for field trips, birthday parties, adult classes, playgroups, and full-day summer camps

Thanks to your donations and our staff and volunteers, UpCycle diverted over 50,500 pounds of materials from the waste stream in 2024. Read about our other 2024 accomplishments in our Impact Report.

BECOME A MEMBER
UpCycle's annual memberships give educators and educational sites access to reuse materials and supplies for creative experiences in the classroom. Check out our Membership page for more information.

You do NOT need to be a member to shop at our materials center.

DECEMBER UPDATE TO MEMBERS: As we have been closed for over 5 months, your memberships will be extended to 6 months past your previous expiration date.  For example, if your membership card has an expiration date of January 2026, your membership will now be good through the end of July 2026.
