Adult Workshops At UpCycle, we celebrate the creative side of ALL of us, not just those who call themselves "artists." Our adult programming provides you an opportunity to connect with your right brain ("get in your right mind") and find new, unusual and beautiful ways to use cast-off and recycled materials. Workshops are limited to 14 participants, and are open to anyone ages 16+. Workshops are $40 and include materials Wednesday nights from 7 - 9 PM (please arrive 5 mins early) Location: UpCycle Creative Reuse Studio 5380-D Eisenhower Avenue Alexandria, Virginia 22304 Please note: If we do not meet the minimum registration of 6, the class may be canceled. May 21st - Why Not a Hat? Wire Fascinators
Join us for a unique evening of crafting fun! In this workshop, we'll learn about the different types of hats and how they are made, and then create our very own fascinator entirely out of upcycled materials. You'll get inside knowledge on all the tips and tricks professional milliners use, and learn a whole new craft in the process!
May 28th - Crafting Stories: A Mixed Media Journal Workshop
Join us to turn upcycled materials into a custom mixed media journal! You can use the journal in many ways: tuck into your planner, make a memory or travel book, garden journal - whatever you want! We will have all the necessary materials. to create the journals, but students are also encouraged to bring some of their own materials to personalize them, such as cereal or product boxes, photos, stickers, maps, tickets, recipe cards, etc. Join local artist Nerissa Alford to learn how to construct and bind together custom-made journals using unconventional materials!

June 18th - Upcycled Plastic Charm Necklaces
Join us for a fun and eco-conscious jewelry-making class led by Paloma Vintage Designs! In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to transform discarded plastic into a stunning charm necklace, giving new life to found materials while creating a one-of-a-kind accessory. We'll explore techniques for cutting, shaping, and assembling plastic pieces into a stylish, wearable work of art. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and a passion for sustainability! All materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own found plastics to personalize your piece. Let’s turn trash into treasure together!

Open studio COMMUNITY CRAFTING

Join us for Open Studio Maker Break, where you can join us in the studio from 12-1:30 pm on the first and third Fridays of every month to let out the week's stress through mindful, meditative crafting. Bring something you're working on, tinker freely with our supplies, or work on a pre-designed craft we'll have set up! Join us for a stress-free, relaxing afternoon and enjoy the community of your fellow crafters!
Tickets are available here for $10, or can be purchased at the door on a first-come, first-serve basis.
