Scout Workshops

We offer a variety of on-site workshops for Scouts of all levels at our creative reuse center. Earn badges and learn more about how creativity and conservation come together at UpCycle! Workshops are available to schedule on Mondays and Tuesdays between 9 AM and 7 PM, Fridays from 6 PM - 7:30 PM, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 PM - 7:30 PM. We can accommodate up to 14 scouts at a time.


Private scout workshops are 1.5 hours long and the cost is $200 for up to 10 scouts

• $20 per additional scout
• Some classes may have an additional fee per scout
• Badges are not included in price, and we cannot advise on badge requirements​
• 1.5 hour duration includes 1 hour of crafting and 30 minutes for learning about UpCycle, troop business, snacks/meals, etc

Daisy – Using Resources Wisely

In this workshop, we will talk about the 3Rs (Reduce - Reuse - Recycle) and what it means to UpCycle. We will rethink how we look at cast-off objects. After reading a book, we will use our resources wisely by creating a portrait using cast-off goods. ​

Jeweler Workshop

Use recycled items to create your own jewelry! Projects are determined by the instructor, based on currently available supplies at UpCycle CRC. Past projects have included bottle cap necklaces, rolled paper beads, aluminum can tab bracelets, and plastic bottle bracelets.

Book Artist Workshop 

Explore the art of bookbinding, and learn book artistry.

Woodworking 101
​Additional supply fee of $5 per scout

Discover how to use wood to make stylish, useful ​things for yourself and others!

• Swing a hammer

When you've earned this badge, you'll know how to use some basic tools to make simple woodworking projects.

Senior - Collage Artist
​
​No matter what you do with your collage, there won’t be another just like it in the world. This badge is an opportunity to make art as unique as you are.

Shop & Craft

During this event we start by giving an overview of the UpCycle Creative Reuse Center's shop. After the tour each child receives a small shopping bag that they may fill with fun items from around the shop. After they are done shopping they can participate in an instructor-led craft in our class area. Craft depends on what types of materials we have available at the time. ​

Tinker Time
$150 for 10 Scouts

Scouts will be able to explore our unique collection of Tinker materials in our studio space and use their imaginations to create their own masterpiece. We have wire, glue, tape - you name it - to hold your work together, and we have a nice selection of mark-making supplies available as well.

Found Object Printing & Painting 

​Scouts get creative by using anything but a brush to paint their own masterpiece. They will choose supplies from our tinker area to create unique prints on top of their painting. ​

Jewelry Making

We will use recycled objects to create unique jewelry.  Each child will go home with at least one piece of jewelry. Project will be determined by what supplies we currently have on hand at UpCycle.
